Raised bed gardens make gardening easier, as you build up your soil by adding compost; the bed’s surface will rise above ground level. Surround the bed with materials to hold the soil in place and you have a raised bed garden. Common edging materials include: Timber, cement blocks, bricks, boards and rocks. By rising the bed makes the soil deeper and it looks neat. Adding the edging keeps lawn grass and weeds from invading the garden. This also adds to better drainage and allows for earlier planting in spring.
